Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Alpine League website and services ("Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform.

Alpine League ("we," "us," "our") operates as Verein Alpine League, a Swiss association registered in Dulliken, Solothurn.

2. Services Provided

Alpine League provides:

  • User registration and authentication via Discord and other OAuth providers
  • Team registration and management
  • Player and team profiles
  • Tournament registration and management
  • Match scheduling and results tracking
  • Streaming links and broadcast information
  • Competition in different esports titles

3. Eligibility Requirements

3.1 Age Requirements

  • Users must be at least 16 years old to use the Platform
  • Users aged 13-15 may participate with verifiable parental or legal guardian consent
  • We reserve the right to request age verification at any time

3.2 Residency Requirements

  • The Alpine League is a Swiss-based league
  • Teams must field the minimum number of Swiss players as specified in each tournament's rules
  • We may require proof of Swiss residency in case of disputes or verification requests

3.3 Account Requirements

  • Each user must have a unique account
  • Users may not share accounts or access another user's account
  • Users are responsible for maintaining account security

4. Account Registration and Data Collection

4.1 Registration Process

  • Registration is conducted through Discord or other approved OAuth providers
  • By registering, you authorize us to access limited information from your OAuth provider

4.2 Information Collected

We collect and process:

  • Email address
  • Username
  • Country of residence
  • Additional tournament-specific information as required

4.3 Privacy

Detailed information about data collection, use, and protection is available in our separate Privacy Policy.

5. Tournament Participation

5.1 Tournament Fees

  • Current tournaments are free to enter
  • We reserve the right to introduce tournament entry fees in the future
  • Any fee changes will be announced in advance and apply only to future tournaments

5.2 Tournament Rules

  • Specific tournament rules, formats, and regulations are published separately for each tournament
  • Participants must comply with all tournament-specific rules
  • Rules may be updated; participants are responsible for staying informed

5.3 Team Composition

  • Teams must meet Swiss player requirements as specified in tournament rules
  • Roster changes are subject to tournament-specific rules and deadlines
  • Teams must designate one person as the primary contact with league administrators

6. User Conduct and Prohibited Activities

6.1 Prohibited Conduct

Users are strictly prohibited from:

  • Cheating: Using hacks, exploits, bugs, or unauthorized third-party software
  • Match-fixing: Deliberately losing or manipulating match outcomes
  • Harassment: Threatening, abusing, or harassing other users
  • Discrimination: Engaging in racist, sexist, homophobic, or other discriminatory behavior
  • Impersonation: Pretending to be another person or entity
  • Account trading or sharing: Selling, buying, or sharing accounts
  • Spam: Posting repetitive or irrelevant content
  • False information: Providing fraudulent information during registration or verification

6.2 Enforcement and Penalties

Violations may result in:

  • Match forfeit or default loss
  • Temporary suspension from tournaments
  • Permanent ban from the Platform
  • Team disqualification
  • Referral to appropriate authorities for serious violations

The severity of penalties is determined by Alpine League administrators at their discretion.

7. Intellectual Property Rights

7.1 Alpine League Content

All content on the Platform, including but not limited to logos, designs, text, graphics, and software, is owned by Alpine League or licensed to us. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute this content without written permission.

7.2 User-Generated Content

By uploading content (team logos, player photos, descriptions, etc.) to the Platform, you:

  • Represent that you own or have rights to the content
  • Grant Alpine League a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content on the Platform
  • Retain ownership of your content
  • Agree that we may use your content for promotional purposes related to Alpine League

7.3 Third-Party Intellectual Property

  • Users must comply with all applicable game publisher terms of service
  • Riot Games, League of Legends, Valorant, and related marks are property of Riot Games, Inc.

8. Streaming and Broadcasting Rights

8.1 Official Broadcasts

Alpine League retains the right to broadcast and stream all tournament matches through official channels.

8.2 Community Streaming

Community streamers may broadcast matches provided they:

  • Comply with these Terms of Service
  • Do not violate any third-party rights
  • Follow any additional streaming guidelines published by Alpine League
  • Do not interfere with official broadcasts

8.3 Participant Streaming

Teams and players may stream their own matches subject to tournament-specific rules and guidelines.

9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

9.1 Competitive Integrity

  • Match results are final unless successfully disputed through official channels
  • We strive for fair competition but cannot guarantee perfect competitive integrity
  • Disputes are handled by Alpine League administrators and, in certain cases, the Swiss Esports Federation (SESF) Refereeing Committee

9.2 Service Availability

  • The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
  • We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue services at any time

9.3 Technical Issues

  • We are not liable for technical issues during matches, including but not limited to:
    • Internet connectivity problems
    • Game server issues
    • Platform downtime
    • Discord or OAuth provider outages
    • Third-party service failures

9.4 Schedule Changes

  • Tournament schedules may change due to unforeseen circumstances
  • We will provide reasonable notice of schedule changes when possible
  • We are not liable for inconvenience caused by schedule modifications

9.5 Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Swiss law:

  • Alpine League is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the tournament entry fees paid by the affected user (if applicable)
  • We are not responsible for actions of other users or third parties

10. Tournament Cancellations and Modifications

We reserve the right to:

  • Cancel tournaments due to insufficient participation or other reasons
  • Modify tournament formats or rules with reasonable notice
  • Disqualify teams or players for rule violations
  • Make final decisions on all competitive matters

In case of tournament cancellation, entry fees (if applicable) will be refunded.

11. Third-Party Services

11.1 External Platforms

The Platform integrates with third-party services including:

  • Discord (authentication and communication)
  • OAuth providers (authentication)
  • Game publisher services (match data, anti-cheat)
  • Challengermode (tournament management)

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service.

11.2 External Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content or practices of external sites.

12. Dispute Resolution

12.1 Internal Disputes

  • Disputes regarding matches, rules, or conduct should first be raised with Alpine League administrators through official channels
  • Decisions will be made in accordance with published rules and guidelines

12.2 SESF Refereeing Committee

In certain cases, disputes may be escalated to the Swiss Esports Federation (SESF) Refereeing Committee, which serves as an external control organ.

12.3 Legal Disputes

  • These Terms are governed by Swiss law
  • Any legal disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Dulliken, Solothurn, Switzerland
  • Users agree to attempt good-faith negotiation before pursuing legal action

13. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be:

  • Posted on the Platform
  • Effective immediately upon posting (or as specified)
  • Notified to users via email or Platform notifications for material changes

Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of modified Terms.

14. Account Termination

14.1 Termination by User

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us through official channels.

14.2 Termination by Alpine League

We may suspend or terminate accounts that:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
  • Pose security risks
  • Remain inactive for extended periods

14.3 Effects of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Access to the Platform will be revoked
  • Outstanding tournament commitments may be affected
  • Certain data may be retained as required by law

15. Sponsorships and Partnerships

Alpine League maintains partnerships with sponsors including Red Bull. Sponsor branding and products may be featured on the Platform and at events. This does not imply endorsement by users or obligation to purchase products.

16. General Provisions

16.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and tournament-specific rules, constitute the entire agreement between users and Alpine League.

16.2 Severability

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

16.3 Waiver

Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision.

16.4 Assignment

You may not assign your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights to any successor organization.

16.5 Language

In case of conflicts between translations, the German version shall prevail.

By using the Alpine League Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
